PUBLIC POLICY
|
DAY ON THE OLYMPIA HILL
|
WSTRA's next advocacy day at the state capitol in Olympia will be in
February, 2008 to begin educating our state legislators about the
harm that could be caused to the public by unqualified people
"practicing" recreational therapy. |

ATRA RECREATIONAL THERAPY
MEDICARE PROJECT
|
One of ATRA's objectives is to ensure Medicare beneficiaries have
broad access to recreational therapy services through clarification
that recreational therapy services are covered benefits in several
inpatient care settings. We have been successful in submitting a
House bill requiring the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services (CMS) to make clarifications to specific Medicare
regulations to ensure that recreational therapy services are treated
as covered benefits when provided in rehabilitation and psychiatric
hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. We are now working
toward enlisting our Representatives'' support.
This effort by our members, including you, is being coordinated
through the ATRA national office. Please participate in our
grassroots efforts and remain in touch with WSTRA and ATRA.
