On Call, Days

 

Provide a variety of patient-focused therapeutic social, recreational and diversional events for participants.  Conduct individual assessment to identify the participants’ individual interests/needs.  Develop and implement an appropriate variety of individual and group activities.  Participate in interdisciplinary care planning.  Coordinate the recreation documentation the group participants.  Assist with training and supervising volunteers and/or youth job program assistants/student interns and their activities.  Lead facility wide participant-centered events.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors in Recreation Therapy,  Valid Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification from National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.  Current Recreation Therapist registration in Washington State  Valid Washington State driver’s license.  Access to daily use of an insured reliable vehicle or alternate ability to travel to sites as required.  Two years experience in providing recreation with the elderly or disabled.  Basic Life Support Certificate for Healthcare Providers or obtain within three months of hire date.  Food Handler’s Permit or obtain within three months of hire date.

Recreation Therapist

Seeking a full-time Recreation Therapist with music and/or art skills to work with adolescents diagnosed with emotional and behavioral disorders in a residential treatment center.  This position will collaborate with Residential Counselors, Treatment Coordinators, Psychiatrists, Nurses and other Recreation Therapists on a multidisciplinary treatment team.

 

DUTIES:

   Developing and implementing a variety of therapeutic groups

   Planning and leading community outings

   Completing assessments

   Documenting treatment progress

   Milieu management and crisis intervention as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Hold, be eligible for or working toward completion of either CTRS or MT-BC

Prior experience in adolescent psychiatry or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills

   Responsible for:

      Recreational program development, implementation, supervision and evaluation

      Maintain adequate records as required by federal and state laws and hospital policies

      Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team

      Communicate changes in social, medical and behavioral information of patients

      Supervise, train and evaluate Rehabilitation Aides, as assigned

      Prepare budget recommendations

      Work with rehab and treatment teams to plan, organize and carry out special on and off grounds activities

      Review and research current information pertaining to physical, mental, emotional and social rehabilitation programs appropriate for patients

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

   Bachelors in Recreational Therapy or Creative Arts Therapy or Human Services Equivalent

   One year experience as a professional Recreation Therapist, preferably in a psychiatric setting.

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist® Meaningful Day Services

Indianapolis, IN

 

Meaningful Day Services, Inc. is seeking full-time and part-time Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists® in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne to provide home and community-based recreational therapy services to individuals throughout the lifespan through the Indiana Medicaid Waiver and First Steps Early Intervention program.

Our therapists conduct standardized assessments for each client, attend interdisciplinary team meetings, develop and implement treatment plans and interventions based on assessed need, educate families and caregivers on TR processes and techniques and document measurable client progress on a quarterly basis.  Typical full-time caseload is 18-28 clients, each client generally seen 1 time per week.  Duration of therapy sessions is based upon number of Recreation Therapy hours approved by the state within each client's plan.  Our Recreational Therapists may also be trained to provide Developmental Therapy for infants and toddlers.

Must hold CTRS® or be eligible to sit for exam and hold a valid driver's license.  Prefer experience with MRDD and children.
